Part-time Church Caretaker
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Part-time Caretaker, who gives support to Admin office to the day-to-day operations of the church and reports to the Administrator. The role includes both indoor and outdoor regular building and grounds maintenance, minor repairs to ensure the church is a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.
Duties & Expectations
General maintenance
Indoor Maintenance
- Keep all floors clean and tidy; perform annual gym floor waxing.
- Clean windows and blinds regularly; replace and clean air purifier filters as needed.
- Conduct minor repairs (e.g., replacing light bulbs, batteries for clocks, remote controls and window sensors etc., fixing small plumbing issues, oiling door hinges and locks).
- Transport items to the recycling center when necessary.
- Manage and organize cleaning and restroom supplies.
- Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen.
Outdoor Maintenance
- Check and clean garbage areas around the building.
- Perform gardening tasks including lawn care, tree and flower box maintenance, trimming plants, and removing weeds (including the west-side parking lot and north yard).
- Sweep fallen leaves from the lawn and walkways during seasonal changes.
- Remove light snow and ice from walkways and driveways when required.
- Perform monthly cleaning of rooftops and walkways.
- Conduct quarterly rooftop inspections and cleaning (including gutters and leaves).
- Repaint parking lines annually.
- Coordinate with the House Affairs leaders and other contractors as needed.
Sunday Duties (12-4pm)
- Conduct an outdoor check around the building for garbage, discarded items (including syringes), or anything left behind by the homeless.
- Inspect indoor washrooms: check soap dispensers, ensure toilets are flushing properly, and perform basic cleaning if needed.
- Check all rooms: restore furniture to original setup (tables and chairs), turn off lights, fans, and A/C units. If any computers or AV systems are still on, report to the office.
- Ensure all windows are closed and locked; secure the building before leaving.
- Collect any lost items and place them in the Lost and Found.
Event & Rental Support
- Unlock the building at the start of the event and ensure it is locked and secured at the end of the day.
- Set up and take down furniture, chairs, and other equipment for services, meetings, and events.
- Clean and prepare rooms before and after events.
- Provide onsite custodial support as needed during events.
- Restore room settings to their original layout.
- Assist with baptism services: prepare the baptismal tank, provide support during the ceremony, and restore the area afterward.

- Church Membership – Must be an active member of a recognized church or willing to become a member of PGMBC.
Salary & Hours
- 22 hours per week (4 hours on Sunday and Saturday, flexible but preferably on Tuesday and Friday)
- Salary negotiable based upon experience & skills ($19-21/hour range)
