15. Advent Sermon Series

On December 21st we will be joining the Cantonese and Mandarin congregations for a joint Christmas service. The last Sunday of December we will be looking back over this last year as well as looking ahead, “Seeing Through the Eyes of Faith.” It will be an interactive service. Beginning in January we will be starting a new series, “Forging a Real World Faith.”

A trip is being planned for next year to go on a missions trip to Casa de Luz in Primo Tapia, Mexico. The date that has been tentatively set is the week of June 29 to July 6. The series is on “Living the Message of Christmas.” This Sunday Brian McConaghy from Ratanak will be speaking on offering hope to those whose lives have been broken and filled with a sense of hopelessness and helplessness. Starting October 5^th and running through November 23^rd we will be engaging in discovering what it means to live the good news of Jesus in the community in which our church finds itself and in our everyday lives. We have both a vision and a mission statement as a church as well as a theme we have adopted for the year. (See the front page of the weekly bulletin.) The goal is to move from statements that sound good in principle to living them out. Pastors Bill and Don, along with Rev. Mak, will share in the preaching in this series, laying out the basis for why this is important and giving some practical examples of how we can effectively live that out. Our adult Sunday School will follow up during the same period with a study on The Art of Neighbouring. The purpose is to take what we are learning to a personal level in living the good news out in the communities in which we live. Come ready to be challenged as well as to grow in what it means to be a follower of Jesus.
