  • Because of personal reasons, Rev. Isaac Tak Hong Man’s withdrawal letter from the position of Director of HK Ministry has been accepted, regrettably, by the Deacon Board. The current three Cantonese pastors will oversee this ministry for the time being.
  • The Mandarin Pastoral Search Committee has put forward Pastor Audrey Sheu as the Mandarin Pastoral candidate. Following the interview and thorough reference checks, the deacon board has concluded to extend a one-year contract to her, requiring no less than 22 hours of work per week, starting on October 1.
  • In 2024, the deacon board meeting will remain scheduled on the second Saturday of the month from 930 am to 1230 pm.
  • The integration of the evangelism departments of the three language congregations into a single collaborative unit by 2024 will result in enhanced cooperation and collaboration. It will be overseen by Vicki Chiu and Rennie Shum with the former as coordinator.
  • To fill the vacant department chair positions, various members will be approached.
  • An appreciation lunch will be provided to department chairs who served faithfully in the past years during the 2024 Planning and Budget meeting on October 21 in the church.
  • Regrettably, Ivan So stepped down from the position of English Evangelism Department chair because of personal reasons, and his resignation was accepted by the Deacon Board.
  • The 2024 Honorarium Schedule for external speakers was approved.
  • The Community Task Force will join forces with the APS Committee to evaluate the potential of using church resources and building alongside the city to provide support to the community during natural catastrophes or extreme situations.

  • The ministry aimed towards newcomers from Hong Kong will be led temporarily by pastoral staff until Rev. Isaac Man. assumes the responsibilities.
  • The deacon board will host an appreciation lunch on September 3rd to express gratitude to Pastor and Mrs. Zhuang.
  • Regarding reintroducing certain elements into the worship service after the pandemic, Holy Communion should first not be taken routinely. The officiating pastor can encourage the parishioners to meditate on the significance of the ordinance in different ways. In response to worshiping God, it’s important to consider having an act of offering in the order of service thus encourage creative and practical offerings in both spiritual and financial terms.
  • The December AGM will be held in person at church on December 3.

  • To gain a better understanding of the practical renovation needs, the church should consider how the building is used by the community and its parishioners.

  2. The SGM on 7/30 was blessed. Amended motions have been passed:
    • Adoption of $20,000 to support Richmond Pacific Grace MB Church immediately. By the end of 2023, Deacon Board may endorse up to an additional $40,000 in support.
    • Adoption of $50,000 allocating to the House Affairs department budget to enhance the church’s electrical capacity and safety as well as adding air conditioning.

  • Ballots without signature or sent electronically through fax, email, WhatsApp or any other means will not be accepted and will be considered invalid.
  • To be officially elected as a Deacon, each nominee must receive at least two-thirds of the votes.
  • The deadline for all ballots to be received and considered valid is Sunday, August 27 at 1:00 pm. To ensure your vote arrives on time, mail your ballot as soon as possible.

  • Consider prayerfully and choose up to 2 from the nominees. For a ballot to be valid, it must be signed and placed into the offering box. If you are mailing your ballot, please use the provided return envelope. Affix a stamp, seal and mail it to the church. It’s possible to put the ballot in the church mailbox as well.
  • Ballots without signature or sent electronically through fax, email, WhatsApp or any other means will not be accepted and will be considered invalid.
  • To be officially elected as a Deacon, each nominee must receive at least two-thirds of the votes.
  • The deadline for all ballots to be received and considered valid is Sunday, August 27 at 1:00 pm. To ensure your vote arrives on time, mail your ballot as soon as possible.

  • The SRG for all staff was completed by July 14th, and a new review format will be created and implemented next year.
  • A new contract has been extended to Pastor David, Pastor Esmond, and Pastor Steven. The church is eagerly awaiting their positive replies. (Pastor David and Pastor Steven have signed a new one-year contract with the church commencing September 2, 2023)
  • Pastor Don and Pastor David will meet to review Pastor Don’s three-month ministry as part-time English ministry pastor.
  • Before being posted online and on the church bulletin board, the deacon board will review and approve the minutes of the six Family Chats. Anonymity will be maintained for comments made during the AGM, as per the previous resolution, and this will also apply to the minutes of the Family Chat.
  • A Special online congregational meeting will be called online at 230 pm on July 30 to vote on the following two suggestions ˉ

Guidelines for Nomination of Deacons

The nominee should be:

1)     PGMBC church members 21 years of age or above may be nominated for election as deacons;

2)     born again, baptized Christian for at least 2 years (I Tim. 3:6) and is a member of our church (Acts 4:23) and familiar with the church;

3)     monogamous, irreproachable in marital relationship and relationships with the opposite sex (I Tim. 3:2);

4)     of good reputation (I Tim. 3:7/Acts 6:3)

a)        Not indulgent in bad habits or committing immoral or illegal acts;

b)        a testimony in his own personal life and family life (I Tim. 3:4);

5)     exercising full responsibility in matters of offering, being an example unto others (Matt. 6:21, I Cor. 16:2);

6)     of high spiritual caliber (Acts 6:3) and understand the doctrinal truth of the Gospel (I Tim. 3:9); attending the major church meetings regularly (Heb. 10:25) and is concerned with the church’s work; willingly co-operating with others in serving the Lord (I Cor. 12:24);

7)     has presided in other duties eg. Committee chairmanship, Sunday School teachers or others evangelistic works of the Gospel and is recognized as a faithful and responsible worker (I Cor. 4:2, I Tim. 3:10).
